Internet users knew only one or two different browsers few years ago, but there are dozen of such programs for now, especially considering every browser has several versions, which are different in functions. The fact is that different browsers following general rules and standards, may use different algorithms of HTML code and CSS styles processing.
That is why not always the same element looks alike in different browsers or may do not work at all.
